Jumping On The Pistachio Trend

We may not have the famous Dubai pistachio chocolate here, but we do have something just as delightful - our Honey, Pistachio, and Barberry Loaffrom Galeta Bakery! This bright, springy sponge is infused with the delicate flavours of honey and yoghurt, creating a perfectly balanced sweetness.
The loaf is topped with our signature nutty pistachio frosting and finished with a sprinkle of tangy Middle Eastern barberries for a burst of flavour in every bite.
Quick fact - Barberries may be tiny, but they pack a powerful punch! These ruby-red berries have been used for centuries in Middle Eastern and Persian cuisine, often adding a tart contrast to rich and savory dishes. But they’re not just delicious - they're also packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, and have been traditionally used to support digestion and boost the immune system.
Whether you're stopping by for a coffee break or looking for the perfect afternoon treat, this loaf is a must-try. Pair it with a creamy flat white or a fragrant chai latte for the ultimate cosy indulgence.
See you soon at B&Bs! ☕✨

Did You Know? The Fascinating World of Pistachios!

Pistachios aren’t just delicious - they’re packed with history, nutrition, and even a bit of mystery! These little green gems have been enjoyed for thousands of years, dating back to ancient Persia (modern-day Iran), where they were considered a symbol of wealth and prosperity. In fact, legend has it that the Queen of Sheba loved pistachios so much that she declared them a royal treasure, forbidding commoners from eating them! A Nutritional PowerhousePistachios are one of the most nutrient-dense nuts, loaded with protein, fiber, and healthy fats. They’re also a fantastic source of antioxidants, particularly lutein and zeaxanthin, which support eye health. Plus, they contain more potassium than most other nuts, helping to maintain good heart health and muscle function. The Science Behind the Green ColorEver wondered why pistachios are green? Their vibrant color comes from natural pigments called chlorophyll and carotenoids, which are also found in leafy greens. This not only makes them visually appealing but also adds to their antioxidant benefits. Cracking the Mystery: Why Are Some Pistachios Closed? If you've ever struggled with a stubbornly closed pistachio, it's because the nut inside didn’t fully mature. Fully ripened pistachios naturally split open, making them easier to enjoy. That’s why high-quality pistachios are always slightly open - ready to be cracked and savoured! A Culinary FavoriteFrom sweet baklava to savoury pesto, pistachios are a versatile ingredient loved worldwide. They add crunch, creaminess, and a unique nutty flavour to everything from desserts to main courses. So next time you enjoy a pistachio treat, remember - you’re indulging in a nut with a rich history and plenty of health benefits! 🌿🥜 |
