As winter settles in, we find ourselves savouring the season’s unique comforts: shorter days, cozy layers, and the warmth of gathering with good friends. It’s a time to slow down, reflect, and enjoy the small moments that colder days bring into focus.

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” John Steinbeck mused. These winter days bring a special kind of peace, helping us appreciate the light and warmth that will return soon enough.

Join us this week for a warm drink, a chat with friends, and a space to reflect as we embrace this season of renewal and optimism. Winter brings us together, and we’re grateful to share these moments with each of you. Here’s to making the most of the season’s magic at Barnaby & Boos.

Cheers

Rob, Amanda, Barnaby & Boo

The Special: Mediterranean Magic on Turkish Pidé

The Special combines rich flavours and textures, starting with soft, fluffy Turkish pidé bread. Inside, slices of savoury mortadella add a subtle spiciness, balanced by the nutty, slightly sharp taste of Emmental cheese. Marinated artichokes bring a tangy, earthy element, cutting through the richness of the meats and cheese with a zesty bite. A layer of creamy mayonnaise ties everything together, enhancing the smooth, satisfying mouthfeel.

The combination of ingredients is both hearty and nuanced, with the Turkish pide providing a light, pillowy base that complements the robust flavors of the fillings for a satisfying, Mediterranean-inspired sandwich. Best enjoyed with a cup of Square Mile!

A Dramatic Season Opener: Handel’s Israel in Egypt with Kingston Choral Society

November 16, 2024, at 7:30 PM at All Saints Church Kingston

A powerful evening of musical drama as Kingston Choral Society launches their 75th season with Handel’s Israel in Egypt. This oratorio, known for its intense choral storytelling, brings to life the Biblical plagues, the Israelites' escape from Egypt, and the triumph over Pharaoh’s army with thrilling and inventive choruses.

In honor of the Society’s roots and love for Handel, KCS will perform this masterpiece for the first time, accompanied by The Purcell Orchestra and talented soloists from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Review of the week

We recently received a wonderful review from Cleofe Albano a long time friend of Barnaby & Boos!

"Local gem.The design and layout of the coffee shop are so nice. You get a choice of small seating by the window or large booths American style. The place is bright and spacious, perfect for studying or catching up with a friend. The quality of drinks and food is high. They use a London roaster company, and the baristas make the milk perfectly frothy. I love their cappuccinos. Their pastel de natas and Almond croissants are my favourite, perfect crunch and sweetness ❤️ I have also tried their gelato and as Italian, let me tell you, it’s good! Pistachio is the best. Then of course, the staff is always smiling and polite, the owner is a local business owner and you can see how much care he puts into every detail. Barnaby and Boo is genuinely a special place for us all in New Malden 🫶"

Than you Cleo, we're thrilled to hear such positive feedback and are grateful for the lovely photo!
