Why Mexican Food Is the Most Sociable Food on Earth (And why we’re bringing it to Barnaby & Boo’s on Saturday 28th)

There’s something about tacos.

They’re not plated and guarded. They’re passed. Shared. Built at the table. Talked over.

Mexican food might just be the most sociable food on earth.

It’s informal. Relaxed. Generous. You reach across the table. Someone hands you the salsa. Someone else laughs because theirs fell apart. Nobody minds.

And that’s exactly the kind of evening we want to create at Barnaby & Boo’s next Saturday.

On Saturday 28th, our chefs from Tried & True — two brilliant Brazilians Felipe and Gabriel who grew up around big family tables and bold Latin flavours — are taking over the kitchen for a special Taco Night.

This isn’t fine dining. It’s flavour dining.

Think slow-cooked meats, vibrant salsas, fresh toppings, warm tortillas and that unmistakable buzz that happens when good food meets good company.

Latin cultures understand something deeply:

Food is about people first.

In Brazil, meals are long and loud.In Mexico, tacos are street food — eaten standing, talking, sharing.

We’re bringing that spirit into a small neighbourhood café in New Malden.

Because high streets need evenings again.

Because neighbours should know each other.

Because food tastes better when the table is full.

Barnaby & Boo’s has always been about community — coffee in the morning, ice cream with the kids after school, Easy E’s hotdog afternoons… and now something a little different for Saturday night.

Whether you come with friends, family, or just pull up a chair and meet someone new, this will be relaxed, warm and full of energy. We’d love you to join us.
