Hello from all of us at Barnaby & Boo's!

Despite the rain showers this week, it's been wonderful seeing so many smiling faces during the school holidays. We've loved watching families tackle our Barnaby treasure hunts - the excitement on children's (and Al's) faces when they discover the free ice creams is truly priceless!

As Easter approaches, we're looking forward to celebrating with all our guests. Just a reminder that we'll be closed on Sunday so our team can enjoy some quality time with their families.

When we return next week, we'll be introducing new opening hours based on your feedback and to make the most of the longer daylight hours. We can't wait to welcome you back!

Wishing everyone a delightful Easter break!

Cheers, Rob, Amanda, Barnaby & Boo's

🌭 Hot Dog Lovers, Take Note! 🌭☀️

Barnaby likes to keep his hotdog simple!

We’re heading into the last couple of weeks of daytime hot dogs here at B&B’s! If grabbing a hot dog on your lunch break has been part of your routine (or if you’ve been meaning to try one), now’s the time to swing by and get your fix before the lunchtime hot dog service wraps up.

Whether you’re a fan of our classic dogs, loaded topping dogs, or a kids dog, we’ve absolutely loved serving them up to you during the day. It’s been fun, tasty, and full of good vibes - just the way lunch should be.

But don’t worry - this isn’t the end for hot dogs at B&B’s, just a shift! While we’re wrapping up the daytime hot dog offerings for now, we’re getting ready to launch something brand new: evening openings!

Starting soon, we’ll be opening up the café a couple of nights a week, staying open until 9pm, and yep - the hot dogs are coming with us. Even better? We’re expanding the menu to include nachos, your favourite gelatos, and a few extra surprises to make your evenings extra delicious.

Imagine it: relaxed evenings with friends, post-work snacks, or a casual bite with a side of something sweet - all right here at B&B’s.

So come enjoy the last of the lunchtime dogs while they’re still sizzling, and get excited for chilled-out evenings, street-food vibes, and a little taste of summer as we extend our hours.

Keep an eye on our socials for the official evening launch date - we can’t wait to see you there! 🌭🧀🍦

🥬 The Fascinating Origins of Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut, the tangy, fermented cabbage that adds a delicious bite to our hot dogs, has a rich history stretching back over 2,000 years! Though it’s most commonly associated with German cuisine today, sauerkraut’s origins can actually be traced to ancient China.

Around 200 BC, Chinese laborers building the Great Wall of China preserved shredded cabbage in rice wine, creating an early version of fermented cabbage. When the Mongols later invaded China, they brought the technique with them to Eastern Europe, where it evolved into the salt-fermented sauerkraut we know today.

By the 16th century, Germans had fully embraced sauerkraut, using salt instead of rice wine for fermentation. This not only preserved the cabbage for months but also created a uniquely tangy, probiotic-rich food that became a dietary staple. Sailors relied on sauerkraut to prevent scurvy on long voyages, as it’s packed with Vitamin C.

Today, sauerkraut is a key ingredient in German and Eastern European dishes, from bratwurst to stews. At B&B’s, it’s our most popular hot dog topping - and for good reason! Its sharp, crunchy, and slightly sour flavour perfectly balances the richness of our juicy hot dogs.

So next time you bite into a hot dog piled high with sauerkraut, you’re tasting a little piece of history! 🌭✨
