Happy St. Patrick's Day from all of us at Barnaby & Boo's! As we celebrate this festive day, we're wishing you a week filled with happiness and good fortune.
Though New Malden gave us that tantalizing glimpse of summer, we know spring hasn't fully arrived just yet. The journey continues, but isn't that what makes the destination sweeter?
In these final weeks of winter, let's focus on what truly matters—sharing precious moments with loved ones over comforting food and ice cream!. Our tables are ready, our coffee is brewing and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Sláinte to warmer days ahead!
In memory of Bertie
Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to a cherished friend who has trotted alongside us through life's most meaningful moments. Bertie, one of the original canine celebrities on our B&B's "Wall of Famous Dogs," crossed over the rainbow bridge today.
From the earliest days when Boo was just a tiny pup, Bertie was there—a loyal companion and spirited friend through countless adventures. His paw prints mark the paths of Richmond Park where he romped with boundless energy, and the countryside trails where his curious spirit led the way. Later, he would try and encourage Barnaby into the ponds at Richmond Park! He even graced our wedding day with his special presence, somehow knowing the importance of being there for life's milestone moments.
To our dear friends Mark and Tim—our hearts are with you. The bond between humans and their four-legged family members runs deeper than words can express.
Bertie brought a unique joy that only those who have loved a dog can truly understand—the unconditional love, the excited greetings, the comforting presence. Through all seasons of life, he was there, teaching us the simple art of living in the moment.
Rest easy, sweet Bertie. Your legacy of love and joy lives on in our hearts and memories.

Bertie, with Barnaby & Boo.

Happy St Patrick's Day

A Little History on Guinness Cake
Hurry down this week for a slice of Chocolate Guinness Cake. Perfect with a strong cup of tea. Not to say it doesn't work with a flat white!
Guinness has been used in baking for decades, particularly in chocolate cakes, because the deep, roasted flavours of the stout enhance the richness of the cocoa. The combination creates an incredibly moist, velvety texture with a slight malty sweetness.
The origins of Guinness cake are somewhat unclear, but it is believed that the first versions emerged in Ireland and the UK in the mid-20th century, as home bakers experimented with adding stout to cakes for depth of flavour.
Come in and grab a slice while it lasts - it’s the perfect sweet treat to enjoy! 🍀🍻
Did You Know? Guinness Edition

Guinness is one of the most iconic beers in the world, first brewed in 1759 by Arthur Guinness at St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. The brewery’s lease was famously signed for 9,000 years, ensuring its legacy for generations.
The beer is known for its deep ruby-red colour (not black!) and creamy white head, which comes from a mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide in its signature pour. A proper Guinness pour takes 119.5 secondsand follows a two-part pour method to achieve its smooth texture.
Guinness is brewed with four simple ingredients: water, barley, hops, and yeast. Some of the barley is roasted, giving it that distinct coffee and chocolate-like flavour. Interestingly, a pint of Guinness has fewer calories than a pint of orange juice or most lagers, making it a surprisingly light choice for beer lovers.
The brand’s famous advertising campaigns, featuring slogans like “Guinness is Good for You”, have made it a cultural icon. Today, over 10 million glasses of Guinness are enjoyed daily across 150+ countries.
Guinness also plays a major role in Irish celebrations, especially on St. Patrick’s Day, when millions of pints are consumed worldwide. 🍀🍻
